"The Anatomy
of Wholeness" & Ashtanga
Yoga workshop.
A special opportunity that you should not miss during the summer retreat.
August,12th -24th
With David Gorman and Stefan Engström.
What is this Anatomy of Wholeness work about?
David Gorman, renowned anatomist, Alexander teacher and founder
of the LearningMethods work, brings his latest insights to this workshop — the
Anatomy of Wholeness™ — about understanding our amazing human
design and function from the point of view of you, the whole thinking,
feeling, responding, performing being. Learning to get out of the way of
the natural functioning of these built-in whole-system "patterns of being" allows you
to regain your heritage of effortless wholeness along with greater support,
freedom, ease and coordination. And this not only in your asana practice
but also in all other areas of your life.
Read more on David’s work on www.LearningMethods.com and
get inspired.
The course presumes no special knowledge of the body or yoga, though for
those who already know a lot, you'll find a whole new point of view to
deepen your understanding and improve your daily activities and yoga practice.
Stefan
Engström has been practicing meditation and yoga
since 1985 and teaching since 1994. Coming in to contact with the
work of David and doing several workshops with him helped Stefan understand
the enormous possibilities of applying these insights to the Yoga
practice. By learning to be in support and balance in all that
we do, we can stop working against ourselves and remove the misconception
of having to do "effort" to move our bodies and overcome gravity.
Here are some of the things you'll learn!
- how to get in touch with support and balance in a way that gets gravity working for you instead of against you,
- how to release into wholeness and openness and maintain it both in posture and movement
- understanding and using your own signals to know how far you can go, and to know what changes to make in your asanas,
- how doing things with effort actually restricts you; how to stop working against yourself, and get more range and flexibility with less effort and strain,
- exposing inaccurate myths about stretching and strength that not only limit you and do not work, but increase your chances of injury,
- how you can practice so that your muscle type changes in a way that gives you strength with flexibility PLUS endurance without fatigue,
- how to avoid injury and the best ways to recover if you do get injured,
- and for teachers: how to take your new understanding into better-designed classes, better adjustments, and less injury,
- plus whatever else you want to bring up and that we have time for...
- Especially powerful for teachers of yoga !
"I believe that any teaching is fundamentally ineffective, whatever
the method, unless it helps people feel, experience and become confident
of their essential resourcefulness, their real self, their inborn freedom
and security, their uniqueness and universality, from the inside of themselves
and by themselves."
